Managing the profile photos

Profile photos can be added on the iPhone via Contacts app.

If the contact is synchronized from another service, that service may also have its own way of adding a photo.

Add a photo

If a contact does not have a photo, the default image will have "add photo" (in blue letters) over the current profile photo (default image or initials).

You have two choices

  • Take Photo
  • Choose Photo

Take Photo

A minimal version of the camera is provided (includes flash and can switch camera).

After the photo is taken, "Move and Scale" lets you select a circular outline. You can move the image and zoom in.

Press "Use Photo" to save the image.

Paste a Photo

If you are in "Edit Contact", you can long-press the profile circle, and then tap "Paste".

Choose Photo

The Photo selector appears, and you can pick a photo and use "Move and Scale" to select a round image.

Copy Photo

In the normal display, you can long press the circle, and then "Copy" will appear

You can paste the photo elsewhere on your phone, although you cannot paste directly into Photos.app

See "Ask Different"→Which iOS app will let me paste an image? for places to temporarily save the photo.
